Public Speaking Is Fun
I am a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM).
As a writer, I enjoy the challenge of crafting a timed speech,
presenting it to an attentive audience,
and then receiving a thoughtful evaluation by a fellow Toastmaster.
I Write Things
I like to write, and my style is simple and direct. Types of writing include:
- Technical. I have a knack for making technical writing look easy. In a professional setting, I get the job done, on time, to specifications, and with little drama. Project managers like me.
- Speeches. I’ve written and personally delivered over 50 unique speeches to Toastmasters audiences. I know what works—and what doesn’t—in the spoken form.
- Creative. Of course, right?

Karate Instructor (Really!)
For the past 30 years, I’ve practiced the full curriculum of the Chung Do Kwan branch of Tae Kwon Do. I am fascinated by the instructional design techniques developed by the Korean masters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The forms (kata) are a work of genius. For more information, see: Martial Arts after 40.
I’m also a beginning student of Shindo Muso Ryu, a Japanese style of stick fighting. It’s a little-known, yet very rich and disciplined martial art.
